Boys Will be Boys

"Form follows function follows fashion," the headlines will read after the smoke and mirrors have cleared in the wake of Detroit's Electric Six (formerly The Wildbunch)'s next outing in rock decadence. What's he blathering on about, you ask? Simply this, in what is surely the most appropriate pairing of sound and vision, the `Bunch will share a stage this weekend (Saturday, to be exact) with scantily and less-than-scantily clad women when they rock the shiny-pole-swinging set of Dearborn "gentleman's entertainment club," Mannequins, with friends and ever-more-decadent punks, the Hentchmen.

The Hentchmen should hit the stage around 10 p.m. with the Electric Six (formerly The Wildbunch) following hot on their organ-driven heels. A DJ will keep the crowd moving between bands and, yes, the dancers, we're assured, will continue through their regular rotation, before, during and long after the bands have pulled their plugs. In case you're curious, this isn't a first (just the most auspicious) for Mannequins. They've had bands play before and, once the bachelor party season cools down, they'll likely book groups of rock-dream-realizing males and females about once a month. So, for the Electric Six (formerly The Wildbunch), the band that brought you the hit single, "Gay Bar" and the Hentchmen, who penned such moving tomes to libido as "Celibate Stroll" and "Looking for a Girl," this may be the peek into Babylon that kicks the rock into overdrive. There's only one way to find out, be there when the rock drops. You can reach Mannequins at 313-581-7400.

In case you're curious (and I know you are), the Electric Six (formerly The Wildbunch) will be releasing a relatively limited run (that is, if it sells out, more will be printed) live record on the recently realized Gold Dollar imprint (yes, the same Gold Dollar as the bar). The boys will also be retreating to the comforts of Detroit's Ghetto Recorders to "cut some tracks," as they say in the biz.
